 February 19, 2014. Announcing a new cartoon contest:

“Hidden Heroes of Iranian Cartooning”
 
Cartoonists Rights Network International – CRNI - invites all Iranian cartoonists to participate in its first contest dedicated to cartoonists in Iran. Since 1992, CRNI has been the only organization in the world dedicated exclusively to defending the free speech rights cartoonists everywhere.   For more, please visit: www.cartoonistsrights.org  
 
Through this contest we want to bring to the world a testament to the most experienced Iranian cartoonists and to those who have never yet published anything. We welcome cartoonists at every level and with every perspective.  
 
Regulations:
-       The contest has no age limitation
-      Iranian cartoonists inside and outside of Iran are welcome to participate 
-       Cartoonists are free to submit up to three cartoons in any of the 5 themes.  
-       Cartoonists must send a short biography and self-portrait photo with their cartoons. 
-       Cartoonists who want to participate anonymously must choose a nickname. Your personal information will remain private and your privacy will be respected. 
- Images should be sent at 300 dpi and as Jpeg. 
 
Themes:        
1. Yesterday Today and Tomorrow
2. Sanctions and the Economy
3. US Iranian Relations
4. Human Rights, Freedom of Expression, Religious Freedom and "the Red Lines"
5. The Environment and Pollution
 
Cartoonists are totally free to expression their opinion in their cartoons. CRNI welcome all ideas     relating to the themes, both positive or negative.

Deadline:
-       All submissions must be sent to the address until March 15th 2014
 
Awards:
-       Selected cartoons will be published in a competition catalog.  Each shortlisted cartoonist participant will receive a copy of this book.  The top 50 cartoons will be electronically distributed among the world's most important journalism, human rights, and cartooning organizations and websites. 
-       Selected cartoons will be published in the special Persian language pages of CRNI's official website.
-       Each top 10 finalist cartoonists will receive a certificate of honor from CRNI
-       Cartoonists will be informed of the results on March 21th 2014 – The Iranian Nowruz.

Mr. Kal Kallaugher, staff cartoonist for The Economist magazine, international lecturer on cartoon art.
Dr. John Lent, Editor of the International Journal of Comic Art, professor of communications (retired) Temple University, USA. 
Dr. Robert "Bro" Russell, Executive Director, Cartoonists Rights Network International.
Mr. Vladimir Kazanevsky, international cartoon lecture, exhibited in over 44 countries resident in Kiev, Ukraine.
